Lindsay

It was all so sudden,
In am matter of moments,
I was all so captivated,
By her voice of magnificence.

But that wasn't the beginning,
No, she captured me by her speech.
She pulled me in quickly,
Like kids running towards the beach.

A river of thoughts,
Now before me,
Sharing her perspective on life,
More clearly I now see.

Now mesmerized with what she has said,
There is a connection,
Like we share so much,
All without our vision.

And in a relatively short time,
Much was shared,
Back and forth in conversation,
All fueled by the intrigue of the unexplored.

She told me a lot so much,
About who she was and who she is.
She asked me questions about me,
About who I am and who I was.

And the discussion continued,
Like it was an opera's symphony.
The harmony in the peace of mind,
Of someone who talks so gracefully.

As the time flew by,
And the uncomfortableness passed,
The topic of our listlessness had arisen,
And the idea needed to be addressed.

Presumably due to the curiosity,
And the hours spent already,
It seemed only natural,
To see each other in the light of the day.

And as it happened,
The plans were small,
The anxiety begins,
And time would only time will tell.

I couldn't help but think that night.
Time spent hoping and wondering,
Kept me from sleeping,
Until my eyes stopped blinking.

Finally, the sun rose,
Morning came with a slight bit of anxiousness.
Couldn't get that melodic voice out of my head,
As it was met with a sense of uneasiness.

The phone rang before I decided to call,
And what I found in my haste,
Is that my counterpart was anxious as well,
For unbeknown to myself, I was late.

This phone call, which I would have made,
To only confirm what was said already,
Was short and sweet,
And now it had activity.

Before I knew it,
I was there waiting for someone.
Not knowing who she was,
But I would once the waiting was done.

Then there she was.
I could put a face to a voice.
A pretty face of a pretty girl.
A girl where there couldn't have been a better choice.

And so onwards we go,
Towards something in the distance,
Where it is, I personally don't know,
But I hope it is a pleasant residence.

Washboard Blues

My favourite saying of late Is that I wanna cry. The world has been crumbling around The people The state of affairs The disbelief. I say the words Jokingly But there's a piece of me That would kindly accept A tear... Or two. There have been more days Than less That I could use a reset button. I would start it all again, There are times where I regret Everything. If I wanted to live with no regrets I probably could have done more I probably could have said more I should have meant more. Morbidity Mortality Time... All things weighing me down. There's this sudden end It's coming soon Sooner for some Not soon enough for others But it's coming. If I was to go right now Away Gone Left it all behind... I don't want anyone to think of me After the fact. I don't think many will Some might A passing glance Something to do But I'll be gone Somewhere more To where I'm supposed to be. Africa Asia Europe Or Beyond. I haven't quite decided Yet But I will.

Snowy Interval

Our winter is right around the corner And the thought takes me back To when we found ourselves Last time around In the coldest of days. Even in those harshest of elements In the coldest of all the months I couldn't feel the chill Because between your smile and your words They were the best of days. And just like the unpredictable Alberta weather The storms rolled in I tried to stand my ground Withstand the worst of what it could throw Until I found the peace to know the storm was me. The summer months were devastating The air was dry The sun was unrelenting It was a record year But the chill in the empty hole was all I knew. The leaves have been falling awhile The mind wanders when unchecked Smelling the weather changing Has the heart reeling For another one of those great snowy intervals.

Not Yet

I'm trying to resist It shouldn't really happen I don't even know for sure. It's a good thing Not knowing keeps me from falling Too far from too much.
